A Pediatrician's Inspiration

Chicago pediatrician Dr. Luis Trevino drew inspiration from tragedy.

In the Chicago Tribune obituary, reporter Margaret Ramirez tells of Trevino’s commitment to help lower-income families, and of the joy he got from watching a young patient grow to adulthood.

At the heart of his dedication to helping kids was his horrific loss of his three small children – along with his young wife – in a car accident.

It’s a fate we wouldn’t wish on anyone… but it’s heartening to know that sometimes, great loss can lead us to do great works.
