Alysha Burney (2000–2025), social media star

by Linnea Crowther

Alysha Burney was a star of YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, where millions of followers watched her comedy videos.

Alysha Burney’s legacy

Burney launched her YouTube channel as a young teen in 2013, but it began to take off two years later with her parodied “Bad Girls Club” series of videos. As she developed her comedy style, Burney amassed about five million followers across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.

Many of Burney’s videos were scripted comedy sketches featuring herself as many or all of their characters, with camera cuts back and forth for conversations. Among her YouTube channel’s popular video clips are the “Be Like” series, including “Online Classes Be Like,” a viral hit launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as several “Types Of” videos: “Types of Siblings,” “Types of People Coming Home from School,” “Types of Friends in a Friendgroup,” and more. Burney’s fans and followers commented on the relatability of her videos.

In addition to starring in her own comedy sketches, Burney was also a producer who founded Alysha Burney Productions. Her short films included “Shiesty,” “Lost Angeles,” and, most recently, “Hot Girl Getaway.”
