Blake Snyder, a St. Louis County police officer, was shot and killed Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He was 33.

Blake Snyder, a St. Louis County police officer, was shot and killed Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He was 33.

Snyder was responding to a disturbance call in Green Park, a small city in South St. Louis County, during the early morning hours on Thursday. An 18-year-old male has been charged in the slaying.

Snyder was a four-year veteran of the St. Louis County Police Department. Police Chief Jon Belmar called Snyder a “tremendous police officer” during a news conference.

He had been a freelance graphic designer before becoming a police officer. He also served on the board of directors at Riverbend Family Ministries.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and 2-year-old son.
