Brad William Henke (1966–2022), “Orange Is the New Black” star

Brad William Henke was an actor and professional football player who starred in “Orange Is the New Black” and had recurring roles on shows including “Lost” and “Dexter.”

NFL to Hollywood

After playing football at the University of Arizona, Henke joined the Denver Broncos in 1989, going to Super Bowl XXIV with the team. He left professional football in 1994 after a series of injuries and surgeries. Henke had small early roles in movies including “Mr. Wrong” and “Space Jam” and on TV in “Chicago Hope” and “Silk Stalkings.” His most notable role came when he joined the cast of “Orange Is the New Black” in its fourth season as the villainous prison guard Desi Piscatella, remaining with the show for three seasons. Henke also starred on the Showtime cult favorite “Going to California” and the two-season “October Road” and had recurring roles on “Lost,” "Justified," “Sneaky Pete,” and “Manhunt.” In 2020, he starred as Tom Cullen in the CBS adaptation of “The Stand.” Henke’s other movies include “Pacific Rim,” “Draft Day,” and “Pee-wee’s Big Holiday.”
