Haselrig was one of the greatest wrestlers in NCAA historywinning six individual heavyweight championships, a record that stands today. He wrestled for Division IIUniversity of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, winning three titles in that division. He also won the Division I championships three times as wrestlers used to be allowed tocompete in higher divisions. After Haselrig won the three Division I titles, the rule was changed to allow competition only in your division.He did not play college football but was noticed by the Steelers during an invitational workout and drafted by them in the last roundin 1990. He was a Pro Bowl selection at Guard in1992 and retired after playing for the Jets in 1995 as he struggled with substance abuse.
