Ben Masters (1947–2023), soap opera star on “Passions”

Ben Masters was an actor best known for playing Julian Crane on “Passions.”

Acting career

Masters played Julian Crane for the entire run of “Passions,” from 1999 to 2008 – though he was absent for some months in 2002 while his character was presumed dead. A wealthy philanderer, Julian was a key character on the show. Masters had another soap opera role on “Another World,” playing the recurring character of Vic Strang. He was a star of the medical drama “HeartBeat” and made guest appearances on shows including “Walker, Texas Ranger,” “Murder, She Wrote,” “Touched By an Angel,” and “Barnaby Jones.” His movies included “All That Jazz” and “Making Mr. Right.” Masters was also a Broadway actor whose plays included “The Cherry Orchard” and “The Boys in the Band.”
