Dietrich Mateschitz was an Austrian billionaire who co-founded the energy drink company Red Bull and was the owner of the Red Bull Formula One Racing Team.

Dietrich Mateschitz was an Austrian businessman who founded the popular energy drink company Red Bull in 1984 with Thai businessman Chaleo Yoovidhya. As part of his job with a cosmetics company, he would travel to Thailand where he became familiar with a popular energy drink called Krating Daeng. Partnering with Yoovidha, they modified the formula and launched Red Bull in Austria in 1987. Mateschitz is credited with greatly expanding Red Bull’s brand awareness with sports partnerships, especially in auto racing and soccer. He founded the Red Bull Formula One Racing Team and Red Bull operates several pro soccer teams. The company is also involved in extreme sports and live music. Max Verstappen is a current formula one driver for Red Bull who is one of the most dominant drivers in the sport.
