Donald McEachin (1961–2022), U.S. Representative from Virginia

Donald McEachin was a politician who represented Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Virginia Democrat

A Democrat, McEachin began his political career in Virginia’s House of Delegates in 1995. He mounted an unsuccessful campaign for Secretary of State in 2001, then returned to the House of Delegates for another term. In 2007, he was elected to the Virginia Senate, serving two terms there before making a national run. McEachin won his bid for U.S. House of Representatives in 2016, representing Virginia’s 4th district, which includes Richmond. He was reelected four times, including a decisive win just weeks before his death. His priorities in Congress included addressing climate change and reducing gun violence.
