Gerry Hart’s legacy

Hart got his start playing in junior hockey in his hometown of Flin Flon, Manitoba, for the Flin Flon Bombers. In 1972, he joined the expansion New York Islanders in their first season, and he stayed with the team as they grew into a powerhouse. Hart went to five playoffs in seven seasons with the Islanders before leaving the team in 1979. He played for the Quebec Nordiques and the St. Louis Blues before his retirement from the NHL during the 1982-83 season. In later years, Hart co-owned a hockey rink in New York.
