Highland Park Parade Shooting (2022)

At least seven people were killed, and dozens more were injured, in a shooting at an Independence Day parade in Highland Park, Illinois, on July 4, 2022.

Highland Park is an affluent suburb 25 miles north of Chicago, on the shore of Lake Michigan.

The names of the people who died have been released to the public. They are:

Katherine Goldstein, 64. She was a mother of two who loved to travel and play word games.

Irina McCarthy, 35. She was attending the parade with her husband, who was also killed, and their young son, who survives.

Kevin McCarthy, 37. He was attending the parade with his wife, who was also killed, and their young son, who survives.

Stephen Straus, 88. He was a financial advisor who continued to work at a brokerage firm in Chicago until his death.

Jacquelyn “Jacki” Sundheim. She worked and worshipped at North Shore Congregation Israel in Glencoe, Illinois, where she coordinated events and taught preschool.

Nicholas Toledo-Zaragoza, 78. He had recently moved back to Highland Park after spending time in Mexico.

Eduardo Uvaldo, 69. He was a father and grandfather.
