The Seekers
Judith Durham joined the Australian folk group The Seekers in 1962 and became their lead vocalist in 1963. The band became the first Australian group to have major success on the United States and U.K. music charts, selling over 50 million records. Their song “Georgy Girl” in 1966 achieved international success, reaching number 2 on the Billboard charts and was featured in the 1966 film of the same name. Other hit songs featuring Judith Durham on lead vocals include “The Carnival Is Over,” “A World of Our Own,” and “Someday, One Day.” She left the Seekers in 1968 and had a long solo music career. She would reunite and record with the Seekers in the 1990s.
