Kenny DeForest (1986–2023), stand-up comedian

Kenny DeForest was a stand-up comedian known for appearances on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Comedy Central, and the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal. 

Kenny DeForest’s legacy 

Hailing from Springfield, Missouri, DeForest made his name in the Midwest stand-up scene before moving to New York City to pursue his career in comedy further. His 2016 appearance on “Live @ The Apt” drew him attention as a rising talent, landing him appearances on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”  

In 2017, DeForest released his debut comedy album, “B.A.D. Dreams,” and over the next several years made appearances on Comedy Central’s “Tales from the Trip,” “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” “MTV Decoded,” and others. He also performed at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, along with shows across the country. 

Most recently, he shot the comedy special “Kenny DeForest – Don’t You Know Who I Am?” at The Gutter in New York City, released in 2023. DeForest was just 37 when he was involved in a single-vehicle e-bike crash and was hospitalized before passing away five days later.
