Blair was drafted by the Vikings in 1974 out of Iowa State. He played all 12 seasons of his NFL career at outside linebacker for the Vikings. He was selected to six consecutive Pro Bowls from 1977 through 1982 and has the second most tackles in Vikings history. Blair played in two Super Bowls with the Vikings, both losses. After football, he became a wildlife and landscape photographer.

Back in my Channel 11 days during Viking seasons, I had the pleasure of having Matt Blair as my studio guest on Sunday nights. He was a delightful man who was totally devoted to the Vikings. I'm very saddened to learn the Vikings lost one of their greatest ambassadors. RIP.
