Moonbin’s legacy
Born Moon Bin, Moonbin was a founding member of Astro in 2015. They had international hit songs including “All Night,” “Crazy Sexy Cool,” and “Blue Flame,” all of which were successful in the United States. Astro toured widely and recorded several albums and EPs, though Moonbin took a hiatus in 2019 to focus on his health. He later returned to Astro, as well as formed the offshoot group Moonbin & Sanha with his Astro bandmate Yoon San-ha in 2020.
Moonbin got his start in acting as a preteen, appearing in the TV series “Boys Over Flowers.” He went on to appear in TV shows and web series including “Moment of Eighteen,” “Sweet Revenge,” and “The Mermaid Prince.” Moonbin was a cast member of “Saturday Night Live Korea” and co-hosted the music competition program “Show Champion.”
Moonbin on recording the recent Moonbin & Sanha album
“I think the most fun part, of course, was trying to compose a song for the first time. It was really fun to watch writing different melodies. Like, if you put this melody here and that melody there… If we differentiate just a little bit, it becomes a whole new song. I think it was really fun to kind of experiment with the melodies and some lines and all.” —from a 2022 interview for Pop Crave
