Nick Benedict (1946–2023), All My Children actor

Nick Benedict was an actor known for roles in such soap operas as “Days of Our Lives” and “All My Children.” 

Nick Benedict’s legacy 

Benedict had minor TV roles before breaking through with his role on “All My Children” in 1973. He played Philip “Phil” Brent, husband of Susan Lucci’s Erica Kane, and he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for his performance. Benedict remained with “All My Children” through 1978, going on to other soap opera roles on “The Young and the Restless,” “Knots Landing,” and “Tribes.” In 1990, he was on several episodes of “Santa Barbara,” and in 1993, Benedict began his longest-running soap opera role on “Days of Our Lives.” There, he played Curtis Reed, who was murdered by crime boss Stefano DiMers, played by Joseph Mascolo (1929–2016), but continued to return as a ghost through 2001. 

In addition to his extensive soap opera work, Benedict also appeared on other TV shows, such as “The Dukes of Hazzard,” “The Fall Guy,” and “Entourage.”
