Acting career
Redeker’s early career included such movies as “The Andromeda Strain,” “The Candidate,” and “Ordinary People.” Also a screenwriter, he had his biggest writing success in 1978 when a script he cowrote was adapted into the script for “The Deer Hunter.” In 1979, Redeker began playing con man Alex Marshall on “Days of Our Lives;” he remained with the soap opera through 1987. While he appeared on “Days of Our Lives,” he also had short-lived roles on “The Young and the Restless,” but after his departure from “Days,” he joined “The Young and the Restless” in a long-running role. He played Rex Sterling, another con man, through 1994 and returned for a guest appearance in 2004. Redeker’s other TV appearances included a starring role in the 1977 TV movie “The Love Boat II” as well as guest spots on “The Rockford Files,” “Fantasy Island,” “Starsky & Hutch,” and “CSI: Miami.”
