Whidbey Island Plane Crash (2022)

Ten people were killed on Sunday afternoon when a floatplane crashed in Puget Sound near Whidbey Island, Washington.

The plane was flying from Friday Harbor, northwest of Seattle, to Renton Municipal Airport. It was about halfway to its destination when the accident occurred.

Search and rescue efforts have ended and the names of the 10 people who died have been released by the authorities. They are:

Gabrielle Hanna, 29. She was an attorney from Seattle who worked for Cooley LLP.

Patricia Hicks.

Lauren Hilty. She was pregnant at the time of her death, and her husband, Ross Mickel, and their son, Remy Mickel, were also killed.

Luke Ludwig, of Minnesota. He was director of engineering for the real estate technology company HomeLight. His wife, Rebecca Ludwig, was also killed.

Joanne Mera, 60, of San Diego.

Remy Mickel, 1. His parents, Ross Mickel and Lauren Hilty, were also killed.

Ross Mickel. He was the founder of Ross Andrew Winery. His wife, Lauren Hilty, and their son, Remy Mickel, were also killed.

Sandra Williams. 60. She was a prominent civil rights activist in Spokane, Washington, where she founded the Black Lens newspaper and the Carl Maxey Center community center.

Jason Winters. He was the pilot of the floatplane.
