Charlbi Dean was born as Charlbi Dean Kriek in Cape Town, South Africa and began modeling as a teenager after dropping out of high school. She did shoots for Guess, Gucci, and Ralph Lauren and appeared on the cover of Vogue. Her first acting role was in the 2010 South African movie “Spud.” She appeared in the films “Don’t Sleep” and “Interview with God.” Dean may be best known for a recurring role as the assassin Syonide on the CW superhero series “Black Lightning.” This year, she starred as a fashion model influencer in the movie “Triangle of Sadness,” which won the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
