Eduardo Xol was a television star best known for his work on the reality show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

Eduardo Xol’s legacy

Los Angeles-born Eduardo Xol took up music from an early age, playing piano recitals throughout the region and performing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at age 10. He joined the theater program at University of California, Los Angeles, where he developed the skills that made him a major star in Latin America. There, Xol starred in telenovelas, and the video for “Somos,” from his first album, “La Pasión,” earned him a Lo Nuestro Award nomination in 1994 for Video of the Year.

As Xol began to refocus his talents into nature and landscaping once back in America, he was featured on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” where his outdoor design sense won him fans and a regular place on the show. He was with “Extreme Makeover” from 2005 to 2012, 65 episodes in all. He also released two well-received books: 2007’s “Home Sense: Simple Solutions to Enhance Where and How You Live” and “Extreme Entertaining Made Simple” a year later.

Xol was stabbed inside his Palm Springs, California home on Sept. 10, 2024. He died 10 days later at Desert Regional Medical Center.
