At least 48 people have died in severe flooding in Germany and Belgium. Dozens more are missing.

In western Germany, in the states of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westfalia, at least 42 have died. Another six people have died in the Belgian city of Verviers.

German chancellor Angela Merkel offered a statement, including, “To the many tireless helpers and emergency workers, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

We invite you to share condolences for the victims of the flooding in our Guest Book.
