Acting career
Kehler studied at the Actors Studio before beginning his Hollywood career in the 1980s. His early TV appearances included “Hill Street Blues,” “Cagney & Lacey,” and “St. Elsewhere.” He played Tommy Lee Holliday across two episodes of “Newhart” and Frank Szymanski in a recurring role on “Murder One” as well as in the miniseries “Murder One: Diary of a Serial Killer.” Among Kehler’s most memorable performances was in “The Big Leboswki,” playing the Dude’s landlord, who invited the Dude to attend his dance cycle. His other movies include “Point Break,” "The Last Boy Scout," “Lost Highway,” “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,” “Men in Black II,” "Love Liza," and “Pineapple Express.” Kehler made dozens of TV appearances over a nearly 40-year career, including “Night Court,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Wings,” “Northern Exposure,” “NYPD Blue,” “Mad Men,” and “Love, Victor.” In 2015, he had a recurring role as Harlan Wyndam-Matson in “The Man in the High Castle.”
