Seven high school students and a teacher died Monday after an avalanche pounded a ski resort in Japan, according to multiple news sources.
The disaster occurred at about 9:20 a.m. local time at the Nasuonsen Family Ski Resort in Nasu, a town about 75 miles north of Tokyo.
The students were part of a mountaineering class taking climbing lessons at the resort, which was closed for the season.
We invite you to share condolences for the Japan avalanche victims in our Guest Book.
