Jim Turners legacy
After playing college football at the University of Utah, Turner was chosen by Washington in the 1963 NFL Draft. However, he was released after a failed tryout and became a free agent, signing with the Jets. He went on to two Pro Bowl appearances while he was with the Jets, and he helped them to victory at Super Bowl III as he kicked three field goals and an extra point.
Traded to the Broncos in 1971, Turner made it to Super Bowl XII. He kicked a field goal and an extra point for the Broncos in that championship game, though they lost to the Dallas Cowboys. After his 1979 retirement, Turner was inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame. At the time of his retirement, he had kicked 304 field goals, an NFL record at the time. Later, Turner provided color commentary for NBC Sports.
