Kathy Whitworth (1939–2022), winningest pro golfer in history

Kathy Whitworth was a legendary golfer who set the record for the most tour victories in history with 88.   

88 LPGA Victories  

Kathy Whitworth won the first of her record setting 88 LPGA Tour victories in 1962 at the Kelly Girls Open. She won six major titles though she did not win a U.S. Open, finishing second in 1971. In 1981, Whitworth became the first woman to reach one million dollars in career earnings on the tour. She was the AP Female Athlete of the Year in 1965 and 1967 and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1982. Her last tour victory was in 1985 at the United Virginia Bank Classic. On the men’s side, Sam Snead and Tiger Woods each have 82 tour wins.
