Jefferson was a star athlete at Eisenhower High School in Houston,playing football, basketball, and track, but acting was what caught his heartand ultimately guided his career. He earned degrees in musical theater and acting from the United States International University and the University of Arizona, respectively.
Jefferson9s career brought him to the stage, where he performed in and toured with productions of 1aBig River,1a 1aOthello1a (in the title role), 1aSuperior Donuts,1a and 1aThe Piano Lesson,1a among others. He made his first credited jump to the screen in 19979s 1aBuffalo Soldiers,1a starring Danny Glover, and the following year appeared on 1aThe Jamie Foxx Show.1a He and Foxx, a close friend, would collaborate several more times.
