Keith McCants (1968–2021), former NFL linebacker

2 min read

by

Keith McCants was an NFL linebacker who was the fourth pick in the 1990 draft.

Football career

McCants played college football at the University of Alabama, where he was a first-team All-American in 1989 and went to the 1990 Sugar Bowl. Expected to be the No. 1 draft pick, he was troubled with a knee injury that bumped him to a later position in the first round. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he played for three years before trades to the Houston Oilers and then the Arizona Cardinals. McCants went to the postseason with the Oilers before retiring from his playing career in 1995. In later years, he was a marine police officer and a sports broadcaster.
