Khyree Jackson’s legacy
Khyree Jackson was a star player at Dr. Henry A. Wise High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, who, after graduating in 2017 and playing on community college squads, went on to play cornerback for University of Alabama for two years, then the University of Oregon. His first-ever game at Alabama was in the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship. He was an All-Pac 12 player in his lone season with Oregon.
Jackson was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round, widely considered a player with future potential. According to his NFL.com report, “Jackson’s size and physicality combined with his NFL-caliber run support should make him an early backup with a chance to climb the ladder into a starting role.”
He was a front-seat passenger in a Dodge Charger with two former high school football teammates, Isaiah Hazel and Anthony Lytton Jr., when their vehicle was struck by an alleged drunk driver. Jackson and Hazel, the car's driver, died at the scene, authorities said, while Lytton Jr., a rear-seat passenger, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
