Doo-Wop legend

Len Barry was the lead singer of the Philadelphia doo-wop group the Dovells. The Dovells had a hit song in 1961 with the dance track "Bristol Stomp." The song sold over a million copies and was a gold record, with the band appearing in the Chubby Checker movie "Don't Knock the Twist." The Dovells' other hits were "Do the New Continental," later featured in the movie "Hairspray," and "You Can't Sit Down" in 1963. Barry went on to a successful solo career with top ten hits in the U.S. and the U.K. and appeared on "American Bandstand."
