Lynn Ban’s legacy
Those who did not follow fashion or the wealth-focused reality show “Bling Empire: New York” may not have known Ban’s name, but anyone with an eye on pop culture has certainly seen her work. Worn by huge stars like Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga, her jeweled accessory designs added dazzle to countless magazine covers, music videos, and more.
A native Singaporean who also lived and worked in Paris, New York, and London, Ban was the founder of Lynn Ban Jewelry. Her Fenty Puma collections, among others, drew acclaim and landed her creativity on the cover of publications like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, as well as V and W magazines.
Other artists to wear her work include Cardi B, Madonna, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone.
Ban came to more public attention when she joined the cast of the 2023 Netflix reality show “Bling Empire: New York,” a single-season spin-off of “Bling Empire,” which explored the lives and careers of wealthy East and Southeast Asian Americans in NYC.
She was injured in a skiing accident in late December. The accident resulted in a brain bleed and subsequent surgery from which Ban did not recover.
