Packers and Notre Dame

Hornung, known as "The Golden Boy," was a star running back at Notre Dame, winning the Heisman Trophy in 1956. He is the only player to win that award on a losing team. He was drafted by the Packers as the number one overall pick in 1957. Hornung was an All-Pro three times early in his NFL career, until injuries and a gambling scandal slowed him down. Known for his wild lifestyle at the time, Hornung was suspened for the 1963 season along with Lions star Alex Karras for associating with undesirable people and was reinstated in 1964. He won three NFL Championships and Super Bowl I with the Green Bay dynasty, though he did not play in the Super Bowl due to an injury. He played one season with the New Orleans Saints and then retired in 1967.
