Ryan Mallett’s career as a quarterback in professional football included stints with the New England Patriots, Houston Texans, and Baltimore Ravens.

Born in Batesville, Arkansas but growing up in Texarkana, Texas, Mallett was a rising star in high school, at one time ranked the Number 2 quarterback and Number 4 overall by Rivals.com. He was also named Gatorade Player of the Year in Texas in 2006. In college, he headed to Michigan to play with the Wolverines, then returned to Arkansas to play with the Razorbacks as a sophomore.

In college, Mallett was a two-time, second-team all-Southeastern Conference selection and won the 2010 Premier Player of College Football Trophy, among other honors. He eventually entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick for the New England Patriots. There, he played three seasons behind Tom Brady, widely regarded as the greatest quarterback of all time. Hee28099d go on to play two seasons with the Houston Texans, and another three with the Baltimore Ravens, where he had his best success in the NFL, twice passing for over 250 a game.

Following his NFL career, Mallett was head football coach at White Hall High School in White Hall, Arkansas.
