Legendary fight against Forrest Griffin

Stephan Bonnar was a native of Indiana who learned wrestling, tae kwon do, and other combat sports. He made a name for himself reaching the finals in 2005 of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show in the light heavyweight division. He fought Forrest Griffin in that bout in what is called the most important fight in UFC history. Bonnar lost a tough gritty fight to Griffin, but the match put UFC on the cultural map. Bonnar had a 15-9 record and lost to some of the best fighters including Rashad Evans, Anderson Silva, and Jon Jones. He had a notable win against Kyle Kingsbury in 2011. After his fighting career, he did color commentary for MMA fights on ESPN and wrestled professionally with Impact Wrestling. Bonnar and Griffin became good friends, and he named his first Griffin in his friends’ honor.
