Acting career
Reynolds began his career in movies of the early 1950s, including “The Battle at Apache Pass” and “Carrie.” After putting acting on hold to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he returned to appear in movies including “Cult of the Cobra,” “All that Heaven Allows,” and “The Thing that Couldn’t Die.” On TV, Reynolds starred in three short-lived series, “Pete Kelly’s Blues,” “The Islanders,” and “The Gallant Men,” as well as starring in a memorable season-one episode of “The Twilight Zone,” “The Purple Testament.” He landed his best-known role in 1967, joining the cast of “The F.B.I.” in the show’s third season. Reynolds played Special Agent Tom Colby for the next six seasons, returning for occasional appearances in the show’s final season. He left Hollywood after starring in “The F.B.I.,” launching a career in business.
