We were a small band of brothers who served in the Recon Platoon in Grenada and Beirut. By this loss, we are now even smaller and the loss is a painful one for me. I was fortunate to be able to reconnect with John after so many years via social media. I wish I would have had the chance to see him again though. He was a brave and dedicated Marine. We counted on him and he watched all of our backs. He is now guarding the gates. John, we will gather and we will toast you. We will keep you in our hearts until we meet again. Your lieutenant, friend, and fellow Recon Marine. COL Charles Dalgleish USA (Ret)

Jacky, it was so important for you to pay respect to my brother John by bringing his prayer cards down to the 30th Beirut Memorial Service. You wanted to make sure that a Marine who survived the Beirut Bombing only to be killed in the World Trade Center terrorist attack was not forgotten. It meant the world to me and my family. You had a heart of gold Jacky and you will be missed so much. My deepest sympathies to your mother, son, siblings and your Marine family. I know you will be watching over them. Thank you for your service to our Country and for your friendship. Rest peacefully. Semper Fi

I met Jack after I was at my last duty station. Was at 3rd Recon B Co.. from 1983-1984. Met Jack in the fall of 1984 when I was assigned to 2nd Recon A Co. Had only less then 9 months left in my military contract.. We trained hard together.. His locker was close to mine. I met him again 5 yrs ago at my first 2nd Recon reunion.. He was a good Marine.. Found of his service and proud of serving in Granada.. Miss you brother.. On to your next duty station to guard the "gates of heaven". Stand tall Marine.. Sempi Fidelis..

My first entry didn't go through. Now, I am glad it didn't. I was so shocked, I didn't know what to say. To John's family, my deepest condolences and sympathy. I met John at the 2013 Recon Reunion. He was a man that I will remember for the rest of my life. A good man. He was a Recon brother from a different time than me. I will always feel honored to have met him and got to know him a bit. To John, fair winds and following seas. You now have the overwatch, brother. You will be remembered, and you will be missed.

Prayers out to Jacky's Mom and son.

I met Jacky immediately after I returned from Beirut and was assigned to Alpha Company 2d Recon Bn. The guys I worked with at the beach were all dedicated and professional, the best group of men I have ever served with. Jacky was a friend to everyone and it was obvious he would give a brother the shirt off his back or share his last MRE. We reconnected recently thanks to Facebook and we have exchanged several private messages. Jacky was always more concerned about other's well being more than his own.

Brothers forever.

Our first duty is to remember.

Semper Fidelis.
