A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Gene Mason on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Goudeau. LA with Fr. Bartholomew Ibe officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie. The family requests that visitation be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East - 11000 Florida Blvd. - Baton Rouge, LA 70815 from 5 pm - 8 pm and on Friday, July 22, 2016 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Goudeau, LA from 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm. Gene Mason, a native of Baton Rouge, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the age of 76. Gene was a veteran of the US Navy and retired from Ciba Geigy. Gene was a loving husband and father. He loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Maggie Mason and his son, Heath Mason, two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Pauline Harris Mason; his two daughters, Tammy Landry and husband, Warren and Donis Simmons and husband, Mike; a niece, Sissy Schroder; his three grandchildren, Jacob Murphy and wife, Michele, Logan Ortlieb and wife, Xiomora and Katie Kennedy and husband, Sean and two great grandchildren, Emma and J.J. Murphy. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Jacob Murphy, Logan Ottlieb, Sean Kennedy, Warren Landry, Mike Simmons, Daryl Tassin, Larry Book and Landon Schroder.
