Tom also served as volunteer instructor of the Pro Se Adoption Clinic for two decades teaching indigent families how to complete adoptions without the need of an attorney.

Among Tom's favorite pastimes were visiting all the US National Parks and cheering for Michigan State Spartan sports. He served as Vice President for the Pikes Peak Amateur Hockey Association. He also refereed high school and college hockey for Colorado College and US Air Force Academy, played soft ball and hockey, and rode his bicycle over 60,000 miles.

This message is arriving quite late, but we had no idea that Tom had passed. He was our adoption attorney in what proved to be a very trying case. Tom was an amazing lawyer and an amazing human being. He got us through legally and psychologically and we have him to thank for our cherished son.

I worked for Tom Beltz from 1997 until 2006. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that he is gone. I miss our lunches, walks downtown and talks about our family and weekend activities. He also encouraged me to be more active and involved in being healthy. I am so sorry for your family's loss of such a caring and wonderful man. Tom Beltz was truly one of a kind and I have not found another friend or employer that has made such a impression in my life. Thanks for the years we worked together and you will always be the Godfather of Adoption in Colorado Springs.

I just called the office to find out that Tom had passed in May. I feel like I need to express my sympathy to Tom's family. Tom was our adoption attorney and trusted confidant when we adopted our son in 2009. He truly cared and was so thoughtful and brilliant. We spent many hours during the adoption and his calmness and smile got us through each day. He will be missed by many. God Bless

Tom was a caring and careful attorney who helped us through our first adoption 15 yrs ago. We will be forever grateful for his sensitivity and support. Although we weren't aware of all the ways he touched the Colorado Springs community, it doesn't surprise us that his influence for good was felt far beyond the reach of most people. May you be comforted in your loss by the memories of all those whose lives he touched.

Dear Mary, I'm so sorry for your loss. I never met your husband; sounds like he was quite a shining star. You believed in me at a very dark time in my young life (1984); Thank you, it made a difference. Myself & wife, five kids, two grandkids are doing well.

Dear Mary,
We just yesterday heard about Tom's death via mutual friends of Tom's sister from Memorial Church. Wife Kathy('67) and I had just remarked last weekend during a visit to GP at the re-hab progress of the Beltz Lakeland Rd compound.

I suspect Tom and I were at Maire together before we moved to Radnor Circle, though I recall the family well esp in the days of Ice Flair!

Although it has been many years I always recall you two as some of the "class acts" at GPHS. The wonderful remarks of his work are heart warming.

Kathy joins me in extending our deepest sympathy.

Mary and family,

I am so saddened to learn of Tom's passing, and having done so after his memorial. Tom and I played on a line together in Las Vegas for several years. And as Warren pointed out he was a boundless source of energy, never knew how he did it!! I will treasure the many fun times and laughs over the years on our hockey trips.

I first met Tom at a mens Ice Hockey tournament in Las Vegas years ago, where he would wear only the most minimal equipment, hardly protecting himself from the many bumps and bruises. we would laugh that he could carry all his equipment in one small duffel bag while the rest of us had these huge hockey bags. Later on I would see him on the Incline, making us envious of his conditioning. He was a true sportsman and a great guy, and I and the rest of his hockey buddies will miss him
