Wendell Winkler Obituary

1916 ~ 2012
Wendell Albert Winkler, 96, passed away October 9, 2012. He was a longtime resident of Tooele, Utah.
He was born February 9, 1916 to Albert William Winkler and Emma Evelyn Fowles Winkler in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. He attended schools in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. He married Leota Brady, of Fairview, Utah, in the Manti Temple June 25, 1941. He served in the Army during World War II. Wendell was employed as a mechanic at the Tooele Army Depot. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he held many positions, including serving in a bishopric, financial clerk and a mission to Skull Valley, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brothers: Thora, Aurel, Owen, Evan, Harold, and Grant.
Wendell is survived by his wife of 71 years, Leota, and his children Vernon, Melvin (Linda), Nila (Richard) Hicken, and Albert (Lorna). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, at 1:00 p.m. in the Tooele Third Ward building, 141 West Utah Avenue (2nd North). Viewing will be at 11:30 - 12:45 prior to the services. Interment will be in the Tooele City Cemetery. A special thanks to Dovell Beebe, Diamond Jane's Assisted Living, and Harmony Home Health and Hospice.
