Richard Johnson Obituary

Richard Johnson, born April 3, 1939, in Alamogordo to John and Eva Johnson, passed away at his home on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011.
Richard attended Alamogordo Public Schools and was employed by the federal government at Holloman Air Force Base until forced to take an early retirement because of his disabling rheumatoid arthritic condition. He struggled with a number of other medical issues, but valiantly lived each day without complaining.
At the time of his passing, Richard was under the care of doctors in Alamogordo, Las Cruces and Albuquerque. He was to be admired for the manner in which he took every doctor's visit in stride.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his three sisters, Adelina Serna (Vick), of Alamogordo, and Tommie Schroeder and Helen Luchini (LeRoy), of Las Cruces; two brothers, Charles Johnson (Marcie) and John Sam Johnson (Toni), of Albuquerque; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend and cousin, Teddy Johnson; and many other cousins all over the country with whom he kept in touch by telephone.
A visitation for Richard will be held from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A rosary led by his brother Deacon Charles Johnson will be followed by the funeral liturgy commencing at 10:30 a.m. with Father Bryant Hausfeld, O.F.M., as celebrant.
The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest.
The family will host a reception at Immaculate Conception Parish Hall after the interment.
Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews John Johnson, Steven Johnson, Kevin Schroeder, Brandon and Doug Parkonnen, and cousin Fredie Livingston.
The Johnson family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.

I am so sorry to hear of Richard's passing. He always had a smile on his face and a good word for you. I remember putting up a Christmas tree for him one year and he just loved it. My Mother and I will truly miss him. Rest in Peace Richard till we meet again. Arlene and Roxanne Waskiewicz
