Hunter Hawkins Obituary

Retired Yancey Brothers Company AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Friday, November 12, 2010 at University Hospital, Hunter Robert Hawkins, 83, husband of the late Gladys Ann Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins worked at Yancey Brothers Company for 38 years where he began in farm equipment sales. He was promoted to mechanics and then worked in road service. For the remainder of his life he cared for his wife, Annie, of 63 years. Mr. Hawkins enjoyed fishing and hunting. Family members include: daughters: Sandra Diane Robertson (Mark) of Martinez, GA, Phyllis Hawkins (Tommy) of Beaufort, SC, and Deborah McElmurray (Earl) of Hephzibah, GA, sons: Robert Hawkins (Patty) of Hephzibah, GA and Mark Hawkins of Evans, GA, sisters: Etta Taylor and Elizabeth Amerson, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Terry Eubanks officiating. Interment will be at 4:00 in the Walden United Methodist Church Cemetery in Avera, GA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Christian Center, 3336 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30909. The family will receive visitors on Saturday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.
