Carol Colburn Obituary

Colburn, Carol Harriet
83, of Tempe, AZ passed away December 15, 2015 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Carol was born in Milwaukee, WI to Harry and Frieda Laux. In 1951 Carol married Robert Colburn. She leaves two sons, Robert (Linda) and Chuck (Anne) along with two grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren, four great step-grandchildren, and many more relatives and friends. Carol had an extensive artist background in paintings and fabric. Having her own studio in her home for many years she worked for valley galleries and taught small groups in textiles spinning, weaving and fashioning hand-woven items. She and Robert spent much time boating which provided her with extensive resources for her paintings. Many of her canvases and textiles are all over the Southwest. In later years she worked with computerized machines to design knit garments and digitized embroidery items. After Robert's passing in 2001, Carol moved into Friendship Village in Tempe in 2003 where she met many, many wonderful new friends and was quite involved in various projects of the Village. She loved to travel and was up for just about any new adventure. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends everywhere. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Skirm Auditorium of Friendship Village on January 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of the Valley.
