David Grisham Obituary

David Leroy Grisham 1948 - 2007 David Grisham was born in San Francisco, CA, on December 13, 1948, and passed away in Fresno, CA, on May 12, 2007, after a long illness. David grew up in the San Joaquin Valley and moved to Shafter with his family in 1959. He attended Shafter schools and graduated Shafter High in 1967, shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam where he was a crew chief with the 116th Assault Helicopter, he was awarded 3 Purple Hearts and honorably discharged in 1977. After discharge he moved to Fresno, and lived there until his death. He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Grisham, in 1992; and his mother, Gladys Grisham, in 2001. He is survived by two sisters, Anita Grisham of Los Angeles and Susan Grisham of Shafter; twin nieces, Heather and Stephanie of Shafter; an aunt, Barbara Harding of Fowler, CA; an aunt and uncle in Florida; and many cousins. David was interred at The San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA, on June 1, 2007.

I know this is late David but you and I were friends in high school and then we ran across each other in Vietnam I remember the day I saw you where the Gunner on the Huey as I was sitting close to you recognize me n kept slapping my head didn't recognize you because of that big helmet you had on as we were going into a Hot zone you Yelled good luck and provided cover for me and my men to get to safety thanks David

David, God broke the mold when he made you. I have thought of you often since our days at Shafter High. You will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known you. God bless you on your new journey and home.
