My thoughts and prayers are with you. Mr. Rice had a way of getting the best out of us young employee of Southern States back in the early 60's. He was truly a remarkable person. He will be missed.

Dear friends - RV was a rare, Christian soul! As a young man just entering the field of agriculture with the Virginia Farm Bureau, he was always encouraging to me, and he was a true role model for thousands of people over the years. We all treasure his memory. God Bless,
Norm Hyde, former FIA president 1996-97

SUSAN AND PEGGY: MY MOTHER JUST CALLED TO GET ME TO READ YOUR DADDY'S OBIT. IN DOING SO, IT BROUGHT BACK VERY WARM MEMORIES OF LIVING ACROSS THE STREET FROM YOU ALL AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD WE WERE PART OF. SPEAKING FOR MY MOTHER, AND MY TWO SISTERS, PLEASE ACCEPT OUR CONDOLENCES ON YOUR LOSS. YOUR FATHER WAS TRULY REMARKABLE. I OFTEN WISH I HAD BEEN BETTER AT RECOGNIZING THE JEWELS AMONG WHICH WE ALL GREW UP. YOUR DADDY (AND YOUR MOTHER, TOO) WAS ONE. BEST TO BOTH OF YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES.

To the family of Mr. R. V. Rice, I worked with Mr. Rice as a secretary during the early years when he was appointed to be Executive Secretary of the Virginia Council of Farmer Cooperatives. Mr. Rice was a wonderful person to work for and knowing him has made my life richer. Mr. Rice will always have a very special place in my heart.
With deepest sympathy, Virginia Jones, a fellow Southern States employee.
