EUGENE WALLACE Obituary

WALLACE, Eugene C. "Gene" Surrounded by the endless love of his family, Gene passed away unexpectedly on January 29th at the age of 74. Born to Susan and Albert Wallace on November 25, 1944, Gene is survived by his loving wife Dolly, his beloved children, Whitney Guida (Dave), Ashley Baima (Alan), and Jason Wallace. Known as "Pa" to his six beautiful grandchildren, Jackson, Caroline, and Grace Guida, and Henry, Tatum, and Maddie Baima, Gene is also survived by his two sisters, Edith Wallis (Peter), and Debbie Essig (Rob), as well as his many fun loving nieces and nephews. Gene was a graduate of Westtown School and the Boston University Graduate School of Management. He served as CFO of the Beth Israel Hospital for 27 years and was a part of the BIDMC merger. He went on to become the CFO of Harvard Vanguard, Signature Healthcare and Commonwealth Care. His hard work and dedication in his field left a lasting impact and he was well respected by all of his colleagues. In his retirement Gene volunteered his time serving on the Board of the Newton Weston Wellesley Committee for Community, Inc. Gene will forever be remembered for his love of sailing at the Jersey Shore, cheering on the BU hockey team, being a voracious reader, making his famous soups at Christmastime, dressing as Santa at the annual Wallace Christmas party, and for his outgoing personality, his gentle soul, his charm and humor, his humility and his peaceful ways. A Meeting for Worship in Thanksgiving for the Grace of God, as shown in the life of Gene will take place Saturday, February 2 at 2PM in the Chapel at Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, 785 Centre St., Newton. Dolly, so sorry to read about "Wally", Gene. Hope you are doing well. Been a long time. I remember the times watching BU hockey so many years ago. Greg passed away of ALS 2 years ago. You were also special to me. May God be with you.

The Best of Friends; the Best of Times. From High School and College, our weddings, and watching your children grow up. But I will most always remember those wonderful sailing trips together.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
