DR. MIRIAM A. LEWIN

LEWIN, Dr. Miriam A. Of Arlington, June 4, 2014. She was born in Berlin, Germany on April 22,1931. Beloved daughter of the late Kurt Lewin and Gertrud (Weiss). Loving mother of Susan P. McHugh and her husband Steve of Arlington, Michael Papanek and his wife Robyn of CA, and Deborah Ferreira and her husband Cris of NY. Cherished grandmother of Rachel and Caroline, and Kathryn, Julia, and the late Daniel. Dr. Lewin was a Professor of Psychology at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York. She received her Ph.D in Social Psychology from Harvard University in 1957 and her undergraduate degree from Swarthmore College in 1952. She wrote about the psychology of women and on the work of social psychologist Kurt Lewin. She was the author of "Understanding Psychological Research" and the editor of "In the Shadow of the Past: Psychology Portrays the Sexes". A Memorial Service and Interment of ashes will take place on July 12, at 10 am at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mt. Auburn Street in Cambridge.
