Dear Papa,

You were a Shiny Penny. You taught me - always by example and never by moralizing - about kindness, empathy, generosity, forgiveness, compassion, curiosity, good will and delight. You embodied these and you touched everyone who knew you. Thank you for being such a guide to us all and for helping us on the way.

I read this recently and it made me think of you:

"If there is light in the soul, there will be beauty in the person.
If there is beauty in the person, there will be harmony in the house.
If there is harmony in the house, there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world."
- Chinese Proverb

Loving you always,
Katie

In the area of light verse Chuck had no equal, not even Ogden Nash, in my opinion.

From everyone at the Quebec-Labrador Foundation, I extend our deepest sympathy to Chuck's family. He was our "favorite tenant" and our good friend. We shared a common world view. We will miss him.

He found me a job, he was always a gracious host, he took me to lunch many times, he listened, he enriched my life. He told me it's the details, the little things in life that matter.
