DOROTHEA CHASE Obituary

CHASE, Dorothea (Condon) Age 95 of Littleton, MA, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020. She was the wife of the late William Chase who died in 1999. Born in Newburyport on November 28, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Freeman J. and Pauline (Cashman) Condon. Raised and educated in Newburyport, she graduated from Newburyport High School. She attended Trinity College (Washington D.C.) and earned a graduate degree from Boston University. She also proudly served her country in the Naval Reserve in the 1950's. Dotty worked at John Hancock, was a teacher in Bolton and worked at Raytheon where she met her husband Bill. They married in 1956. A longtime resident of Littleton, Dorothea was an active and faithful parishioner of St. Anne Parish; she also worked as the church secretary for years and participated in many church activities. During her spare time she was active in many organizations including Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. Dotty always had a smile on her face. She loved to bake and was known for her delicious cookies and squares. She will be missed by many. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Chase of Littleton, Margaret Pinchbeck (Dave) of Windham, Maine and Pauline Shire (Bob Prior) of Amherst, New Hampshire. She leaves her dear granddaughter Dorothea Kristine. She was sadly predeceased by her sisters Pauline Condon and Catherine Conley and her brother Freeman Condon. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. A private burial service took place at Westlawn Cemetery in Littleton. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to: St. Anne Parish Building Fund, 75 King Street, Littleton, MA 01460 or The Friends of the LCOA (Littleton Council on Aging), c/o Treasurer, Box 134, Littleton, MA 01460. Dotty will be greatly missed, she was such a wonderful, devout, kind person and I was blessed to have known her.She was the one who encouraged me to be a eucharistic minister at St.Annes and to volunteer at the Life-care ministry in Littleton. She was so faithful coming to my home every Sunday to bring me Holy Communion when I was homebound for 9 months recovering from chemotherapy and radiation. Dear Family of Dottie, I am so sorry to hear of Dottie's death. She was a most wonderful person. We worked together a few times bringing gifts to families in town at Christmas. I believe the last time I saw her was visiting at Westlawn Cemetery. She was visiting her husband and nearby I was visiting my son and more recently my husband also. Dottie was one of the friendliest people in town. My thoughts are with all the family.

Dottie was a truly lovely lady. She was one of the town's "do-gooders" and helped with so many things over the years. I was fortunate to get to know her in garden club. My sympathy for her family, it is so hard to lose a parent, even in the best of times.

Our thoughts and prayers to the Family of Comrade Dotty Chase. May she enjoy forever in eternity the companionship of her fellow Veterans that have gone on before her. The Veterans of Littleton American Legion Post 249 will certainly miss her presence in the annual Memorial Day Parade. She has added her name to those we honor on this day.

To the Chase family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. The Poulin family from Littleton loved your mom! I have fond memories of attending many St Anne functions and the Sodality women were always there, my mom Anna included. I loved that your mom and mine were born in Newburyport and so was I! Please know that she is in a beautiful place now and along with Tess Karr, my mom and others are planning the next Senior Luncheon for folks older than them! Love to you all

Dotty was one of the first people I met upon moving to Littleton over 30 years ago. She was the President of the Friends of the Library at that time. I'll always have fond memories of Dotty.

Dear Chase family,

I was struck at the passing of dearest Mrs Chase but even more so that her day of ascension was the same day as my greatly missed, beloved mother, Tessie.

Tessie and Dottie were truly the dearest of friends who love and admired each other greatly. Mrs. Chase was so endeared to my mom for so many years. They served on sodality all of my life at St. Anne's . When Mom moved back to Littleton, they went to everyday and spent time at the senior center along with my Auntie Muzzy Murphy. Together they contributed so much time to the church and communicants. They shared a beautiful, loving, sisterhood friendship.

My thoughts and intentions are for you all. She was such a graceful, lovely woman of such dedicated faith. May she rest in eternal peace in the light of all who loved her. I sure did.

Peace,

Deb

I will miss your Mom's quiet but friendly way and smile! She taught me CCD when I was young and years later I ran into her at the Littleton Town hall where she volunteered and she noticed my lawn-care shirt and asked if I would mow her lawn which I have been doing about the last ten or so years. She was always very thankful and friendly! She will be missed!!.John Stenstrom
