Vi let her divine light shine through everything she touched and shared it with all of us in her presence.I feel honored to have spent even the short bursts of time together. She was inspired and inspiring. I light a candle daily for her and Phoebe, Anna and Jon.

Viola was a wonderful source of support in helping our school district begin the hard work of serving English Language Learners. She understood the difficulties everyone faced and made suggestions that helped move things in a positive direction. My prayers go out to Jon and all the family. Thanks for loaning her positive spirit.

Viola will be missed dearly. I remember her from when I worked at Staples Copy Center in Bennington, where she would always bring her artwork in. She was always a joy!! May she rest in peace.

Ever since spending Mon. nights counting the Omer at the home of Viola and Jon, a place in my heart was reserved for this most remarkable woman. Her memory will certainly be a blessing. Joy, Beauty, Love, Passion, Brilliant Color. Prayers are with Viola's family and closest friends as they all process this loss.

A woman of grace and intelligence, whose zest for life was contagious. She gave her daughters the best gift ever, wings to fly! Two of my most prized possessions are paintings she gave to me. Jon, Anna and Phoebe, thank you for sharing this incredible woman with all of us. I will always picture her in those amazing cowboy boots!

I just found out about this and can't believe it is true. When someone that great, inspiring, full of life/energy etc. passes you would think there would be some sound/explosion etc. She was so lovely. I have several of her paitings hung throughout my house that will continue to remind me of her... This is just so sad.

I met Viola when she first came to North Adams to teach Spanish at Drury High School. I remember the energy she exuded when she entered a room. She has touched many students in both the Spanish classes she taught as well as the ESL community. May she rest in peace and her family heal as time marches on from her passing. Viola was the most sincere painter I've ever met. She never had an agenda; just painted and lived with a fundamental exuberance for all the many experiences she had, and treated the people she met with compassion and seemingly limitless love. Viola was a beacon of joy and light every time I came in contact with her. Thought I have not seen her for ages her love of life was evident to me every time i came in contact with her art, her family members, and her work in the community. I feel her loss in my heart.
