"My heart is naturally built to carry the courage and strength to embrace the greatness of who I am, no matter what happens". Janice passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015 at Foothills Hospital surrounded by her loving family. A service will be held in celebration of her life on Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. Gerard's Parish (8944 Elbow Dr SW, Calgary) at 1:00 p.m., with reception to follow. So very saddened to hear the news of Janice's passing. Myron, Leona and I have very fond memories of our family gatherings with all the Starkos at Pigeon Lake long ago, and I know that Gene also worked with Janice directly on some film projects. She was a gifted lady . . . we are so sorry for your loss.

Today--November 19th--is Janice's birthday. I still cannot believe she is gone and that we will never share our thoughts and feelings and good times, and bad times ;-) again. Caitlin, Joe, Rory, Gloria, Michael and Rob: know that i am thinking of Janice--and all of you--today and that i offer you my love and condolences every day, but this day especially.

I had not seen Janice for years and then a month or so ago ran into her in Revelstoke at a gas station - we were both headed to BC. We reminisced about our boys (Simon and Joe) and I have since thought of the great times they all had out at their cabin when the boys were in school. We were part of a babysitting coop too; she was always gracious, beautiful and kind. Our love and prayers are with the family.

I am so very sorry for the loss of such a good friend and trusted colleague, loving mother and wonderful teacher. Janice was just an angel with the most beautiful smile and gracious spirit. When Janice and Caitlin visited our family long ago she remarked that I was so fortunate to work right next to a beautiful park, and later she would send faxes to my office asking "Did you go into that park today?" It was such a simple and lasting reminder to be grateful.

Janice was a good friend. I always enjoyed talking to her; it gave me a sense of calm. She was articulate, kind-hearted, wise and gracious. I also loved her sense of humour. Selfishly, I would have wanted more time to know Janice; I already miss her. Wishing you all the strength and courage you will need to sustain you. May it comfort you to know that Janice is at peace.

My heart is sad for the loss of such a beautiful human being. Janice was not only a gentle soul but a caring person to both colleagues and students. She was loved by her students and went the extra mile for them. I send prayers and love to her children, especially Katelyn who I have never met but feel like I know through Janice's eyes. Her deep love for her daughter was indescribable to me. Katelyn, I will continue to pray for you and your healing. Your mom loved you so much and always had a smile when she spoke about you.
