Jack Dillon Obituary

Gentle, stubborn, funny, intellectually gifted, a loner and a crank; Jack's life was a conundrum of choices and he did it his way to the end. Jack passed into eternal life following a lengthy struggle with lung disease. He is survived by his wife, Lauren and children Luke, Dana, Frank & Thomas. Jack was the eldest son of the late Bob and Therese (McDonough) Dillon and brother to Janet (Patrick), Bob, Caryl, Mark and David (Lori). Stepson of Peg Dillon and stepbrother of Janet Sullivan (Jerry), Peggy Lanagan (Mark), James Hogg (Debby) and Kevin Hogg. Jack attended Loyola Academy, Deerfield High School and Regis College. During school breaks and after, he worked for the City of Chicago driving snowplows, garbage trucks and asphalt trucks. Those experiences helped weave some of his best stories – many of which morphed into historical fiction over time. Regardless of friends and family contradicting his facts, he remained steadfast in his version to the end! Jack went on to work at the Merchandise Mart in the family carpet business. Jack believed in God and prayer and genuinely believed "everything will work out the way it's supposed to." Godspeed Jack! You were loved and will be missed. A memorial is planned for June 23rd at St. Thomas More, 215 Thomas More Drive, Elgin, IL. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. A Mass in celebration of Jack's life will begin at 10:30 a.m. Additional details can be found at Legacy.com In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Jack Dillon to The Association for Individual Development, 1135 Bowes Road, Elgin, IL 60123.

Just heard today of Jack passing. I am so sorry for your loss. Lauren I pray you are doing well. Jack Keane and Jack Dillon were so close as kids. Now they are together again. Word can not express how sad I feel. Both Jacks are gone to soon.

Just found out about Jack's passing. My condolences to the family. Jack and I go back to the Regis College years. Many a good time was had with Jack on our Spring Break trips to Mexico, our shenanigans in Central City Colorado, and just hanging around campus telling stories and discussing philosophy, music, and even religion. I regret that we lost touch over the years, but I still have fond memories of our times together. RIP Jack!

I only have good memories of Jack - mostly I picture him hanging out with Luke (Pal). You could tell he was really bright and he loved 70s music. He could tell a good story. Peace Jack and to all the Dillons.

To Jack's family, sorry for your loss. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us that God is thinking thoughts of peace towards us, to give us a future and a hope, may that bring you comfort at this difficult time.
