Daniel Keller Obituary

Daniel J. (Jake) Keller, 75, of Wilkes-Barre died Tuesday in Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Born on May 21, 1931, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Betty) Bonick Keller. He was educated in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.

Jake worked in the local coal mines and prior to retirement was employed by the Central Slipper Shoe Factory.

He was a social member of the American Legion Post 815, Wilkes-Barre Township, where he worked part time.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Marguerite Loeffler, on Feb. 19, 1998; brother, George, in 1987.

Surviving are niece, Diane and her husband, William Wilkins, great-niece, Krista Wilkins and great-nephew, Brian Wilkins, all of El Cajon, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 from Leo P. Lehman Funeral Home, 689 Hazle Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Vincent Dang, pastor of Catholic Churches of Sugar Notch officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Jake's family and friends. I had the pleasure of playing many games of rummy with Jake while he was under my care as a home health aide. God bless Jake and all of his family.

I couldn't have had a better friend! Everyday that i spent with Jake was a pleasure. I will surely miss him! Everyone should love life the way that Jake did.
